Josh Herring

JV Assistant Coach
Josh Herring is the son of Jimmy and Rita Herring and a native of Fitzgerald, Georgia, where he lived until age 15 before moving to follow his older brother, Matt, play baseball for UGA in Athens, GA. Coach Herring got married in the summer of 2009 to the former Miss Evelyn Shaw, a native of Peachtree City, Georgia. Coach Herring and Mrs. Herring now live in Senoia, and both are employees of Coweta County Schools.
Coach Herring is also the Head Wrestling Coach for East Coweta High. Wrestling and Baseball were the two sports that Coach Herring participated in while in high school. During his Senior Campaign at Oconee County High School, outside of Athens in Watkinsville, Georgia, Herring had to make the decision to either play baseball or wrestle in the colligate ranks. Herring, a 4 time Georgia State Wrestling Finalist, chose to follow his dreams and wrestle at the University of Nebraska rather than play baseball at a smaller college. As fate would have it, injuries would sideline Herring and end his competitive wrestling career and spur him into becoming a Coach, like his father before him.
After the end of his wrestling career, Herring became a Community Coach at Oconee County High School with the Wrestling Team and the Baseball Team in 2003. He would continue to coach at Oconee until Team Georgia Wrestling came calling and he accepted a position with the State of Georgia’s National Wrestling Team as a Coach. Herring would finish his college degree at the University of West Georgia while coaching with Team GA and accept a job as the Head Wrestling Coach at East Coweta High School in the summer of 2008.
Coach Herring loves the opportunity to work with the young athletes at East Coweta High School in both the Wrestling and Baseball Programs. When he isn’t coaching, Herring likes to spend time with his wife and family, pick a little guitar, and go fishing.
